The Community Thanksgiving Dinner wouldn't have lasted as long as it did without the generosity of kind souls in and throughout the Union County Areas. Whether you'd like to volunteer with us on Thanksgiving Day or donate in other ways, we'd love to have your help! While we encourage the involvement of children, the Health Department will not allow children under the age of 15 to participate in anything pertaining to food prep and service. Children are encouraged to make Thanksgiving cards and notes to include with deliveries and may ride with their family to make food deliveries.
The week of Thanksgiving, we need volunteers to help prepare the venue. There are a variety of needs throughout the week including table and chair setup, unloading trucks, washing cookware and utensils and food preparation. We are at the venue on Wednesday getting things ready.
We provide meals for delivery those who cannot get out or cook. We need volunteers for the morning of Thanksgiving to get the meals from us to them. This is a fun and rewarding activity to experience with your family.
Servers are needed for the delivered meals. Working on the lines to get meals boxed up and ready for runners is at the heart of feeding everyone. Runners take meals to the waiting delivery and carry out drivers.
Kitchen volunteers are needed for cooking stations all day. We also need help keeping cookware clean throughout the day. At the end of the day, we clean every piece of cookware and clean the kitchen from top to bottom.
